20th Anniversary celebration
As all Ministries and Churches do, we have celebrated what God has had us do each year with a celebration to Jesus Christ. Each year the celebrations seem to get bigger and better, I suppose that is what you expect.
This year we celebrated both Hearts or the Children Ministry and Mount Zion Church at the same time. 20 years for HTCM Dedicated to serving the poor, sick, hungry, naked children of Guatemala.
And Mount Zion Church built on a mountain top overlooking the city of Guatemala.
The three services Friday, Saturday and Sunday were true surprises from God.
Three special men of God came to preach the word and all reaffirmed the great promise that Jesus will return for His Church. Praise God! When the alter call was made to reconcile to God, there were not many left sitting in the pews and very few dry eyes.
It is rather easy to make an alter call ,however not knowing God’s great surprises it may not be so easy to deal with the multitudes who the Holy Spirit touches when that call is made.
Twenty three years in country has taught us many things, the one thing we worked hard to avoid was not to leave the village of Embaulada HELPING WHERE IT HURTS. Yes God has moved in awesome ways, and although a large number of people have been reached, there are still hundreds who are still living in darkness and believe they can do it on their own, particularly the youth.
Many who know Tom’s natural age ask why he still works so many days and hours in this community. Simple, until all have heard.
We have been so richly blessed by God for so many years, the feed programs for children continue, medical clinics are operating, our outreach to street living people is ongoing and the wonderful temple for all of us to come together and worship our Lord is built, what is next, we will wait and see what secret God has for us next.
Know this, you all are the missionaries, we our family, are only the servants.
We give all the praise and glory to God the almighty.

News from February 2013
To all of our Friends in Christ who love us and pray for us.
Thank you for your wonderful and large offerings during 2012 that, helped us continue with our Children’s programs. Hearts For The Children Ministry continues to grow in numbers as we have reached out to several more villages to bring in more to the Kingdom of God. Additionally there are new babies being borne to members of our Church population. We have included some photos of some of the newest whose parents recently brought them to be presented to our Lord in a thanksgiving service.
We thank you for your love, prayers and support that lifts us up. We as missionaries have been living by faith believing in God’s provision for 23 years now and He has always provided.
We will be celebrating our 2oth year for Hearts for the children the week end of March 2013 and one year being in our new Temple after so many years preaching the gospel in a tent.

Annual Year end activity and Christmas Parties.
First off we want to thank all of our supporters who blessed Hearts For The Children Ministry in 2012 that has allowed us to continue to bless and lead many hundreds of people to Jesus!
- Elizabeth’s Father and Mother donated the funds for the food, toys and all the other trimmings for this year Christmas party. We are awed by this generous act of love, considering they are both retired and well into their eighties living off of the small pension the Canadian government awards them. God is so good!
- We have been doing this activity for some 20 years now and never tire of it; in fact the results are more exciting than ever.

Vacation Bible School for 2012
Hello once again from Hearts for the children ministry, and Guatemala.
We continue to offer many programs to the children while they are out of school on vacation.
One of them is our annual vacation bible school.
Theme of the school (The power of Prayer)
The 12 teachers work with limited resources and so depend on their wonderful and unique imagination and that of the children.
Many children from the COG children’s Casa Shalom joined us this year and brought their skills to the program.
Elizabeth and I are so proud to have watched so many children grow in the Lord over the past 20 years. This year is no different.

We were able thanks to many of you, provide transportation and snack for all of the children for the four days.

International Children’s Day
Each year for the past 21 years, Hearts for the Children Ministry has celebrated International Children’s Day with a special activity. This year we were joined by 250 children from several villages we work with.
This year the teachers put on a skit that was hilarious, the children just loved to see the teachers of our Sunday school be adventures instead of themselves.
Based on the skit there were about 10 questions asked, the child who came up with the right answer won a prize? However there was food and gifts for all at the end of the day. The children from Casa Shalom, a children’s home, located just down the road from our church came, this was a big blessing for us.
None of this would be possible without your love, prayers and support, speaking of which we prayfully encourage all of you to weigh in at this time of financial difficulties.

Latest on eruption of Volcan Fuego
We have had so many folks sending prayers and wanting to know how we are doing regarding the eruption of the Volcano Fuego which is just about 12 miles from home. We have about 23 live volcanoes in Guatemala and from time to time there is some kind of activity some very small and some much larger.
I deliberately waited to advise you all for several days, as most time these things do die down. That is what happened with this one. Just one night and day of very heavy activity with plumes of smoke and ash up to 3000 meters in the air and lava rivers of up to a quarter of a mile.
The winds were the thing to watch for as they were blowing west North West for the most part so places like the pacific coast and Panajachel were covered with the dirt and ash.
All of our communities were very safe.
All of the people who were evacuated have now been returned to their homes and the volcano is now quiet.

Two year old Kaila – a special moment
This is two year old KAILA.
I had been noticing her at the praise and worship part of our Sunday services for some time now and thought she was just copying what her mother was doing until last Sunday when I saw the tears flowing from the closed eyes then I knew that something powerful was going on.
