Hello Everyone!Thank you for your support and prayers which enable me to be here!Every time I sit down to write one of these newsletters, I have difficulty figuring out what to write about. My desire is to write about specific events and through that give you a taste about what's going on down here in Guatemala. As I was thinking about this letter, I realized that I've never clearly said what I actually do here! Here's a quick list of my jobs:1. Help with children's activities including teaching Bible lessons on Wednesdays and Sundays for the kids ages 6 and under.2. Drive people to and from church services and other activities.3. Keep our computers running that we use for all office work.4. Manage our "cafeteria" which sells hamburgers, chips and drinks.5. Run the computer school which is about to open up.6. Handle the church's finances.7. Do whatever else comes up.You may wonder why I would open a computer school to teach these people where computers aren't essential like they are in the US. (it's not to relieve anxiety from being away from Georgia Tech) The real reason comes from their culture. They know how well we live in the US compared to them. So they have this feeling of "my father's life was worthless, my life's worthless, and my children's lives will be worthless too." Our church has started a program of leadership and discipleship which aims at showing them that God can use even an illiterate mother of 14 to be a powerful impact in advancing His kingdom. The computer school is another avenue of showing them that they have worth by giving them skills.A new change here is that we've moved a lot of the ministry into a house next door that we're renting. We had medical and dental clinics, pharmacy, office, kitchen as well as 5 people living in the ministry house. This move has given us some more space which has been very nice. I've put some pictures up on my website at http://www.hftcm.org/brentWe're also getting ready for containers from Canada and the US. These containers are full of food and clothes which will be distributed to the families here. We're constructing warehouses to hold all the supplies. The Canadian container should arrive this week and the American one in about two weeks.I've spoken about the elections coming up Nov. 9th, please keep praying about them!Brent
