Hello Everyone,Thank you for your support and prayers!Time's been flying by! I can't believe that I've been here for 2 months already!I've put up a website that has some pictures of the different activities that have gone on since I've been here, which can be found at:http://www.hftcm.org/brentOur church is arranged as a "cell and celebration" church which means all the members are divided up into smaller groups (cells) that meet during the week for Bible study. I've joined a cell in a village called Gorion, and it's led by a guy named Daniel. Daniel's a really great guy, and when I first met him, he immediately said "I remember you, you use to come and play soccer with us." But I couldn't remember him at all until later when I realized that he was this very angry looking guy. I was intimidated by him back then because he was so gruff. He became a Christian about a year and a half ago, and now he's one of the leaders of the church!Speaking of Gorion, I just love it! I loved it when I was here before, and I'm planning on restarting a feeding program there. It was stopped about a year ago because there wasn't enough helpers to run it. The feeding program and playing with the kids afterwards are some of the most effective tools for reaching out to the kids that don't come to our church. I'm not sure when I'll be able to start the program up, because we have a bunch of American teams coming down in a little over a week, but you could start to pray that God would guide it.There's a girl named Fabiola that I became very good friends with while I was here before. Her dad now doesn't let her come to church, and she's barely allowed out of the house anymore. So I started visiting her and her brothers and sisters on Fridays. A few weeks later her dad came and told me that I was not allowed to talk to her or go to their house anymore. Both her and her father need a lot of prayer.I took a bunch of the teens hiking to the top of an active volcano called Pacaya that I had climbed before. I had forgotten how hard it was! It hasn't erupted in a few years, so parts of it were even more like sand, making it really hard to climb. But it was all worth it!!! The view is incredible. Unfortunately, all the pictures we took were destroyed at the photo-developers. We're now talking about hiking another one called Agua. It's a lot taller, and as you can tell by the name, it's inactive. We're going to wait for that one until after the rainy season because we'll hike up it one day, then return the following morning. Here's my prayer requests:1. Fabiola and her father2. Starting up the feeding program in Gorion3. That I would develop a stronger relationship with Daniel4. That my Spanish would continue to increase. There's so much I want to say to them, but it's still difficult! I also get tired easily from speaking Spanish all day.I love to get email and hear what's going on there in the US!Brent
