Hello Everyone! This is a little late, but it's finally getting out. These last two monthshave really been a whirlwind of activity! In April, I received theopportunity to help translate for a medical group in some remote villages inwestern Guatemala. I've asked you for prayer for help in Spanish inprevious newsletters, and it wasn't until working as a translator this weekthat I realized how much better I had gotten. Thanks for your prayers!Over Easter week I had the chance to hike with the youth up a volcano calledAgua. It was one of the hardest hikes I've been on, but had a spectacularview at the top! My grandmother and uncle also came to visit in April. Itwas great to have them here, and we had an awesome time touring Guatemala. In May we had two groups visit. The first was a group of Navigators fromGeorgia, and they were here for two weeks. Their main ministry was a VBSprogram in a village called San Miguel. It was a great time, and more than100 children came to it. It also meant a lot to me because this type ofprogram is what I really love to do but can't do by myself. Many kids hadnever experienced God's love in this manner before, and it was a hugesuccess. The other group was our first team from Canada, and they held a"Christmas in May" where they shipped down a container of prepackaged toysand clothes. Throughout the week they held events in different areas aroundthe ministry to distribute the packages to the kids and their mothers. Finally, the big question about what to do after this year has beenanswered! Although I was offered teaching jobs to high schools, I felt thatthey weren't God's will for me. I have decided to return to graduate schoolthis January in order to teach at the college level. For the next 6 months,I will be moving down the road to work with the school of an orphanagecalled Casa Shalom. My main responsibilities will be setting up a tutoringprogram for the kids having troubles, increasing communication between theteachers and director of the orphanage, and helping with lots of computerwork. (of course!) I've already been here more than a year! In a week I'll be returning to theUS for a vacation. During that time I will be sending all of you letters ofa yearend wrap-up, but I want to say thank you in this letter too forsupporting me during this past year. You have been essential to my timehere, and I am very grateful.Thank you,Brent
